A new exhibition of digital sound prints by Cath Walshaw: Wavelength.

Artist statement: “I’m interested in new perspectives emerging through digital developments, which challenge our understanding of the world. My practice combines these new perspectives with traditional printmaking techniques to re-present and bring new focus. In examining these shifts in how we understand our lives, my practice seeks to fuse together the past, the present and the future.”

Cath Walshaw studied Printmaking at Bradford College in 1970’s and also her MA in Visual Arts in 2012. She has a long standing relationship with Bradford and has always been interested init’s cultural life and regeneration. She has worked extensively with the Bradford’s Artists in Schools Programme and worked with staff at Cartwright Hall and Bradford Industrial Museum. She now lives in Newcastle where she continues her freelance practice and also works in the heritage and cultural sector.

Cath’s exhibition opening follows on from The Listening Hour, during which her partner Mike Hirst is presenting some of his audio pieces.
